Knysna Lake

Knysna Lake is actually the exit of Knysna River to the ocean. Due to the deposit of silt over the years at the estuary and the inclined landform, the place has turned into a sizeable lagoon.
The length of the sailable channel on the river is approximately five kilometers. The reed-covered swamp in the area has become a stopover site for Mediterranean migratory birds to breed during winter. When spring ends and summer arrives, one may see flocks of geese and pelicans swimming gracefully on the water. There are two small islands in the middle of the lake and they are connected to the land by bridges. Visitors will be delighted to find exquisite cabins located by the lakeside. Imagine sitting on the deck of your cabin with the mountain as the backdrop of the scenery; the mirror surface of the lake reflects the hovering birds to paint a picturesque portrait of the tranquil waters - few places in the world offer views that surpass the beauty of Knysna Lake's scenery.
